Fix These 3 Common Hiring Mistakes!
It’s hiring season and companies are looking far and wide to find that ALL-STAR candidate…but let’s make sure you have an up to date hiring process. Common hiring mistakes might end up costing you that perfect candidate after weeks (if not months) of searching! Jessica explains what the 3 most common hiring mistakes companies make during the interview process. If you’re looking to hire, this vlog is for you!
What are the 3 hiring mistakes that might cost your company that perfect candidate?
1. There’s no clear set of expectations from the get go!
Unclear expectations about communication and timelines are a detriment to advancing forward in the hiring process. Please let your candidate know from the start what the process looks like and how long it should take.
2. No clear communication!
Make sure you’re communicating clearly with your candidates (especially if you’re super interested). So many times clients will let candidates fall through the cracks during the hiring process. Make sure to check in on a weekly basis and set some expectations about moving forward. Say something like “Hey we’re interested in you and here’s what the next step will be and here’s when it will be.”
3. Not talking about compensation EARLY!
Please talk about compensation EARLY! Have a direct conversation about compensation since hiring can take months of time. Imagine all that time getting ready finish this race only to find out that both parties are on separate wavelengths! That doesn’t make any sense. Say something like “This is our range for our budget, does that fall in line with your expectations?” If not, then there’s an OPPORTUNITY to have an honest conversation early in the process.
