How To Send A Follow-Up Message on LinkedIN
So they accepted your connection request? Here’s what to do next!
- Be sure to thank them for accepting the request
- If you didn’t already mention which role you’d be interested in applying for, include that in your follow up or feel free to resurface the mentioned role from your previous message
- Include what you can bring to the company that they’re hiring for
- Keep your message simple, short, and include the most important part of every message…the call to action
Linkedin Message Example:
Hey _____,
Thank you for accepting my connection request! Would you be open to discussing the______ position you are currently recruiting for in further detail. More than happy to follow your lead on this, but I can provide a copy of my CV for your review should that make things easier. Please let me know when you would be available for a quick call!
Kind regards,
____________
What Are Some Other Message Tips For LinkedIN?
- Don’t listing all of your achievements because your profile should be filled with your career accomplishments
- Think of the connection request as a trailer, give a little snippet that intrigues job recruiters
- Use a call to action at the end of your message
- Use a simple “Looking forward to connecting!” or “please check out my profile to see how I may be able to help”
- Before sending your connection message, proof-read with a tool like Grammarly
- You can only use 300 characters in the first request; so make sure to choose your words wisely
